The Law Reform Commission, working with the Judiciary and a broad group of justice-sector stakeholders, advanced the review and validation of the proposed Family Court Bill in April 2026.
The reform is intended to create a specialised framework for family-related matters, including issues affecting children, domestic relations, maintenance, protection and family welfare. Stakeholder engagement has focused on ensuring that the proposed court is legally sound, accessible and responsive to the realities faced by Liberian families.
The Commission's role includes technical review of the draft legislation, coordination of stakeholder input and support for a coherent reform process before the proposal advances through the appropriate legislative channels.
