A request may be made in writing, by email, orally in person or by another appropriate means. A requester does not need to justify why the information is wanted.
The Act provides a maximum response period of 30 calendar days, with one extension where reasonable cause is shown.

A clear request helps the Commission identify the information quickly. Formal contact details for the designated information officer will be published once confirmed by the Commission.

The receiving public authority should acknowledge the request in writing and advise the requester of the maximum response period.
The response may provide the information, transfer the request to the appropriate authority, or give a written lawful reason for refusal.
