The Governance Commission and Law Reform Commission convened national dialogue in June 2026 on constitutional reform, bringing together public institutions, legal experts, civil society, traditional leaders, youth representatives, academics and development partners.
The dialogue considers the imperatives, challenges and possible pathways for reviewing the 1986 Constitution, including issues of democratic governance, accountability, decentralisation and inclusion.
Constitutional reform requires broad legitimacy and public participation. The Commission's role is to support technically sound, evidence-based consideration of reform options within Liberia's constitutional framework.
