The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection and the Law Reform Commission convened a national stakeholders' validation process in August 2025 for Liberia's comprehensive assessment of gender-discriminatory laws, with support from UN Women.
The assessment examined constitutional, statutory and customary-related legal issues through a gender lens and identified priority areas for reform affecting marriage, inheritance and property rights, harmful practices, child marriage and women's political participation.
The validation brought together public institutions, the Legislature, the legal profession, civil society and traditional stakeholders. The completed assessment and synopsis provide an evidence base for follow-up engagement and future legislative reform.
