Act Creating the Commonwealth District of Monrovia, 1922
Approved on 8 February 1922, this Act created the Commonwealth District of Monrovia and replaced the former municipal arrangement with a national-government administrative structure for the capital. The framework remained the statutory predecessor to the modern municipal charter until the 1973 City of Monrovia Charter expressly repealed the Commonwealth District Act and created the City of Monrovia in its place.
